In March of 2017 the band gained their fourth consecutive Platinum Award across all festivals at the final of the

Scottish Concert Band Festival held in Perth Concert Hall. The dedication & skill of all the players involved is a credit to

the school & the overall musical life of Aberdeen. Long may it continue!!



2016 prove to be an exceptional year for Aberdeen Grammar School Concert Band.

In March the band received a Platinum Award for their performance at the final of the Scottish Concert Band Festival in

Perth Concert Hall.

During November they received a further two Platinum Awards for their performances

at the Regional Festivals of both the National & Scottish Concert Band Festivals to cap a remarkable year's work.  


On Sunday 29th November 2015 the band were successful in gaining a Gold Plus Award at the Scottish Concert Band

Festival Regional Event. The band will go on to perform at the final in Perth Concert Hall on Sunday 20th March 2016. 


On Monday 23rd March 2015, following the Scottish Concert Band Festival in Perth, the band were privileged to

welcome American composer Stephen Bulla to the school. Mr Bulla spent the day working with the group and taking

questions on his career and philosophy. Enormous thanks go to Nigel Durno of SCBF for facilitating this day.





 On Sunday 22nd March 2015 the band took part in the final of the Scottish Concert Band Festival in Perth where they

 gained a Gold Award with flautist Rachael Watson collecting an Outstanding Soloist Award for her performance of

 Stephen Bulla's Rhapsody for Flute.
